Tom Kitt to release his debut studio album Reflect


Tony, Emmy, Grammy, and Pulitzer award-winning composer Tom Kitt’s debut studio album will be released on Sony Masterworks on August 13. Reflect offers music by the Next to normal songwriter with lyrics and performances from a host of Broadway greats. The first single from the album “Breathe”, co-written and performed by Little jagged pill Tony contender Elizabeth Stanley makes her debut today alongside the pre-order.

“During the first few weeks of the pandemic, I was in a very dark place and found myself creatively crippled,” Kitt said. “But given all the big issues and the calls for social justice, I felt I had to find my resilience to create.”

The song cycle was born when Kitt reached out to several friends (many of whom had appeared on shows Kitt was attached to), asking them to write an essay, poem, lyrics or statement conveying personal emotions and experiences to the louder of Broadway. to close. Kitt then turned their lyrics into songs. Contributors include Adrienne Warren, Mandy Gonzalez, Michael McElroy, Jenn Colella, Danny Burstein, Javier Muňoz, Lauren Patten, Jerry Dixon, Elizabeth Stanley, Heidi Blickenstaff, Brian d’Arcy James and Pearl Sun, as well as the children of Kitt Julia and Michael Kitt.

The album also includes a track titled “She Has Hope”, performed by d’Arcy James and written by Red Mill! Candidate Tony Danny Burstein and his wife Rebecca Luker, who died of ALS in December 2020.
