The Red Hot Chili Peppers Announce Surprise Second Studio Album of 2022

The Red Hot Chili Peppers have announced the release of a surprise album, Return of the Dream Canteen, in October.

The American rock band, made up of Anthony Kiedis, Flea, Chad Smith and John Frusciante, has already released an album in 2022 with Unlimited Love, released in April.

Speaking about their upcoming release, the group said, “We went in search of ourselves as the group that we have always been.

“Just for fun, we jammed and learned old songs. Soon after, we began the mysterious process of creating new songs.

“A beautiful chemistry interference that has befriended us hundreds of times along the way.

“Once we found that flow of sound and vision, we kept tapping.

“With time transformed into an elastic waistband of oversized underwear, we had no reason to stop writing and rocking. It felt like a dream.

“In the end, our sluggish love for each other and the magic of music had given us more songs than we knew what to do with. Well, we got it. Two double albums released in quick succession The second is easily as significant as the first or should it be reversed.

“Returning the Dream Canteen is everything we are and have always dreamed of being. It’s packed. Made with the blood of our hearts, yours truly, the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Return of the Dream Canteen was produced by Rick Rubin, who also worked on Unlimited Love.

Unlimited Love was the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ first release since their 2016 album The Getaway.

The band are currently on tour in the United States, during which they perform with a number of other artists, including Haim and The Strokes.

The tour will extend to Australia and New Zealand later in the year and will see performances from Post Malone and St Vincent.

Return of the Dream Canteen will be released on October 14.
