The Lumineers Return With ‘Brightside’, Fourth Studio Album Arrives 01/14/22


The Luminous have announced the release of their highly anticipated new album. BRIGHT SIDE arrives Friday, January 14, 2022 via Dualtone in the US and Canada and Decca Records for the rest of the world; pre-orders are available now.


The 2x GRAMMY® Award nominated band’s fourth studio album, BRIGHT SIDE is announced by today’s premiere of the first single and title track, “BRIGHTSIDE”, available now on all DSPs and streaming services; an official viewer is now streaming on YouTube. The Lumineers will further celebrate today’s announcement with the first live performance of “BRIGHTSIDE” on tonight’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! (check local listings).

Produced by longtime collaborator Simone Felice and produced, mixed and engineered by David Baron over two sessions in Winter and Spring 2021 at Baron’s Sun Mountain Studios in bucolic Boiceville, NY, BRIGHT SIDE marks the first new music by the Lumineers in over two years as well as the group’s most joyful and spontaneous work to date. The nine-song collection sees Lumineers co-founder/co-songwriters Wesley Schultz and Jeremiah Fraites perform virtually all the eclectic and effervescent instrumentation, with Baron on a wide variety of keyboards and backing vocals and more by Simone Felice, touring members Byron Isaacs and Lauren Jacobson, famed backing vocalist Cindy Mizelle (Bruce Springsteen, Dave Matthews Band), James Felice of the Felice Brothers and famed singer-songwriter Diana DeMuth.

The Lumineers have quickly risen to the ranks of the most beloved bands in the world across all genres. Fueled in part by the breakthrough single “Ho Hey”, 2012’s self-titled debut album caused an immediate stir, soaring to No. 2 on the SoundScan/Billboard 200 en route to RIAA 3x Platinum certification in the US and Canada a prestigious two GRAMMY® Award nominations, including “Best New Artist”. CLEOPATRA followed in 2016, debuting at No. 1 on the album charts in the US, Canada and the UK en route to RIAA certification platinum in the US and 2x platinum in Canada. Highlights of the album include the hit single “Ophelia”, which spent an astonishing 13 weeks atop the Triple A radio charts and currently has over 610 million streams worldwide on Spotify alone. The Lumineers’ third album, the cinematic and inventive III, proved a critical and popular phenomenon upon its release in September 2019, highlighted by singles such as “Life In The City” and “Gloria”, which both illuminated multi-format radios. across the country, with “Gloria” topping the Americana, Adult Alternative and Alternative charts, including six consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the latter chart.

In addition to their two GRAMMY® Award nominations, the past decade has seen the Lumineers earn a wide array of other accolades, including five Billboard Music Award nominations and two Americana Music Honors & Awards nominations. Widely acclaimed for their energetic yet intimate gigs, the band traveled the world on several sold-out tours while delivering hit sets at legendary global events such as Bonnaroo, Glastonbury, Fuji Rock, Splendor in the Grass and Osheaga.
