Swift’s decision to re-record her first six albums follows Scooter Braun’s purchase of its former label Big Machine. This allowed him to take control of the masters of these albums. The record’s director and manager sold the masters for $ 300 million to Shamrock Holdings in November 2020.

After the purchase, the private equity firm contacted Swift. However, she declined because Braun’s Ithaca Holdings would still be enjoying her old music.

In September, Swift teased that she was releasing her rendition of “Red”.

In June, Braun donated Variety his take on his public battle with Swift over the ownership of his old albums and main recordings.

“I regret and it makes me sad that Taylor had this reaction to the deal,” he told the outlet. “Everything that happened was very confusing and not based on anything factual. I don’t know what story she was told. I asked her to sit with me several times, but she refused. . I offered to sell him the catalog back and went under NDA, but his team refused. It all seems very unfortunate. “

“Open communication is important and can lead to understanding. She and I have only met briefly three or four times in the past, and all of our interactions were really friendly and kind. I find her to be an incredibly talented artist. and I wish him nothing but the best, ”added Braun.
