Sarah Drew Sets Return of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ With Appearance Of Season 17 Guests – Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: Amid the darkness of coverage of the coronavirus pandemic on ABC Grey’s Anatomy This season, there have been some shining moments, many of which have to do with the return of beloved former cast members.

After Patrick Dempsey, who is recurring this season, and TR Knight, who appeared in an episode last fall, Sarah Drew will also be returning in Gray Sloan this season, Deadline can reveal.

She will reprise her fan favorite character of Dr. April Kepner in a future episode.

And more Grey’s the alums could be on their way home, appearing in dreamy beach footage. As Grey’s Anatomy Showrunner Krista Vernoff teased this week, “There’s a good chance you’ll see other people on the beach.”

Pulled left Grey’s at the end of season 14 in 2018 after nine seasons, eight of which were in the regular series. She started as a recurrent in Season 6 before being promoted to regular the following season.

Drew’s Dr April Kepner was a trauma surgeon at Gray Sloan Memorial Hospital who joined Mercy West Medical Center after the merger. She shares a daughter with her ex, Dr. Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams). We last saw her bond with Matthew (Justin Bruening) and quit her job, although a lot Grey’s fans – and Drew herself – were hoping she would end up with Jackson. April’s comeback could help end the former couple’s story.

Most recently, Drew has been recurring on Freeform’s Was cruel. On the feature side, Drew recently starred in Sony. Mum’s Night Ort. It is replaced by Innovative Artists, Vault Entertainment and Morris Yorn.
