“For us to be in a band for so long, still enjoy it and do what we think is the best record NEEDTOBREATHE has ever done, it comes down to resilience,” the band explained. “We are still hungry. We are ready to take the next step. We don’t have any passive fans either. They live their lives on these songs. They are tough. We are quite honored and proud to bring these songs to a world that is suffering at this time. Maybe we could be a picture of hope that inspires someone else to keep going. “

Much like their critically acclaimed 2020 album Out of body impacted public, NEEDTOBREATHE capitalized on a wave of creative inspiration. Without saying anything, the band scrambled to a historic home-turned-recording studio in Columbia, Tennessee, to start working on new music. For three weeks they resided under one roof and recorded with co-producer and engineer Konrad Snyder and special guests. From that “extended summer camp” they handcrafted an album that reflected the moment, but independent of all expectations, even their own.

As intimate as the recording process is, the group has filmed every minute of it for an upcoming documentary titled, In the mystery. Last week, Deadline announced that Greenwich Entertainment has acquired the North American distribution rights for the film and will release it this fall after the group’s next tour. In the mystery was directed by Chris Phelps and co-produced by Elektra Records and Foundations Music. Watch the trailer for the film below.

In the mystery is highlighted by the current single “I Wanna Remember” with seven-time GRAMMY Award winner Carrie Underwood. Last month, the band and Underwood delivered the song’s first televised performance at the 2021 CMT Music Awards. Crowned as one of the night’s highlights by both US Weekly’s, Vulture praised it. as a “powerful and predictable performance of their duo”, and E! called it, “something fans will want to remember.” Watch their unforgettable performance HERE.
