In a recent PodcastJordan’s former agent David Falk spoke of when the six-time NBA champion declined an overwhelming offer to attend a one-day golf event for just two hours:
“[Jordan] turned down a contract to make a one-day golf appearance when he was in Asia a few years ago for a preseason game with Charlotte. And a woman in the Philippines offered me $ 7 million [USD] for one day, wanted him to participate in a golf tournament. And he refused it. I got him a deal three years ago for $ 100 million [USD]. And all he had to do, other than give his name and image, was make a two-hour appearance to announce the deal. And he refused it. “
Falk, however, said it was difficult to convince Jordan to make such an appearance because money was never the most important incentive. With the Jordan brand as one of the most coveted brands in the world and its recent purchase of the Charlotte Hornets, money is not something an athlete should ever worry about.
