Girls’ Generation confirms the release date of their studio album “Forever 1”

Iconic K-pop group Girls’ Generation has confirmed the title and release date of their long-awaited comeback album.

On July 25 at midnight KST, SM Entertainment shared the first teaser for the eight members’ upcoming studio album “Forever 1,” which will be released on August 8. The new .gif file concept features the Girls’ Generation logo floating in front of a bright pink sky and reads “coming soon.”

“Forever 1” will be the girl group’s first comeback as a full act since their 2017 album “Holiday Night” and their seventh studio album overall. It also marks the end of the act’s extended hiatus, which began after members Tiffany, Sooyoung, and Seohyun left longtime agency SM Entertainment in October 2017.

Girls’ Generation’s next reunion was first confirmed in May, when the group announced they would be returning with a new album to celebrate their 15th anniversary.

Several Girls’ Generation members had already hinted at the comeback before the announcement. In April, Tiffany teased the group’s comeback during an interview with She Korea. When asked if Girls’ Generation had any plans to celebrate their 15th anniversary, Young replied, “I need confirmation before I say anything…yes, we have something planned. That should be enough, right? Yes, we have plans!

Earlier this month, SM Entertainment revealed that Girls’ Generation will also be performing at their “SMTOWN LIVE 2022: SMCU Express @ Human City Suwon” concert, which will be held on August 20 at Suwon World Cup Stadium. Members Taeyeon and Hyoyeon have also been listed as solo artists and are set to perform with supergroup GOT The Beat alongside BoA and members of Red Velvet and aespa.
