Ed Sheeran Announces New Solo Studio Album =, Shares Breathtaking Single, Visiting Hours

Ed Sheeran has announced his upcoming studio album, =, which is slated for release on October 29 via Asylum Records.

The LP will be Sheeran’s fifth outing and will follow his 2019 effort Collaboration project n ° 6, who saw him partner with artists such as Stormzy, Khalid, Camila Cabello and HER

To kick off the news, the singer-songwriter released the album’s new single, Visiting hours, which adopts an abundance of Sheeran-style acoustic guitars, jaw-dropping lyrical knockouts and a swollen arrangement filled with backing vocals and savory vocoder-tinged vocals.

Continuing the precedent of math-themed album naming established by its previous efforts – + (2011), X (2014) and (2017) – = is described by the signature guitarist of Lowden as a “coming of age” effort that he began to compose in 2017.

“I started writing and recording this album in June 2017,” Sheeran says in a new statement. “It’s been a long, long process.

“I’ve been through love, loss, new life, heartache and everything in the entire writing period, and I feel like it’s really a record of maturity. I have never been more proud of a job, nor more excited / nervous than you all hear.

Sheeran also revealed the personal message behind the new single, saying, “The next song is called Visiting hours, which I finished for my friend Michael who unfortunately passed away this year.
