Dream Theater announces 15th studio album, A View From The Top Of The World

Of the exceptionally crafted album, Petrucci commented, “We love to play our instruments. It never goes away. I like to be creative, to write and to exercise this part of my mind.

“We’ve been able to do this for a long time,” he continued, “and we don’t take it for granted. Every time we get together we know that we can’t disappoint ourselves or our fans, so we manage to try even harder.

The first single from the record has yet to be shared, which means we’ll have to wait a bit longer before we hear Petrucci wield his eight strings for the first time.

Speaking of the effort ahead, Petrucci previously described the experience of using his eight strings as “a similar experience to when I had my first seven strings.”

Learning to familiarize himself with his still-unreleased eight-string Ernie Ball Music Man Majesty, Petrucci continued, “It’s totally inspiring and awesome and I can’t wait for people to hear it. I’m so glad it’s on the new record. In due time you will be able to see it and hear it

“When I got my seven strings I had never played one before and didn’t know what to expect. The way I approached it was that it was just an extension of the guitar range.

“I don’t feel like I’m trying to imitate a style or genre or anything like that. I just play it my way, with my own approach. This is how I did it. It was so comfortable.
