CIVIC announces its first studio album “Future Forecast”

Melbourne-based CIVIC has announced the release of its debut studio album Future Forecast – which will arrive on freshly pressed white (North America) and brown (Europe) vinyl on December 3 via ATO Records.

The album follows their much sought-after EP “New Vietnam” and is the band’s first full-length LP. Future Forecast was originally released on March 26 in Australia via Flightless Records. Pre-orders are available now through the ATO Records and PIAS online stores, shipping November 29.

Handling and tenacious, but never losing sight of a good hook and how to use it – CIVIC does not tiptoe around edges, but erases them with primal intensity. Finding a home somewhere between ’80s glam rock and the great Australian artists of the’ 70s, they break down pieces of influence before turning them into their own beast on “Future Forecast”.

Originating from time immemorial, the five-piece was formed in 2018 through the traps of Melbourne’s music scene. Bonding around a shared love of tightly wound riffs and a collective musical philosophy, they channeled this into their debut EP ‘New Vietnam’. In a rushed recording session, all 7 tracks were slammed in one day, with the underground hit selling out almost immediately.

With momentum in the tank, they traveled to various locations across Victoria to descend the beds of Future Forecast. From historic Richmond Bakehouse Studios in all their glory, to a DIY storage shed on High St, there is consideration for the new and the old on this album. Paying homage to the classics, but pivoting on them with an avant-garde edge.
