He wrote on Twitter: “I couldn’t be more excited to speak with @JoyAnnReid tonight on his show @thereidout . Tune in at 7 p.m. EDT. See you soon, Joy! #This country”

Reid wrote: “Guess who’s back and hang out with me on @thereidout this evening?? My buddy and one of the people who gave me a crucial career break a long time ago, the great @HardballChris, who released a fantastic new book today: #This country. Rendezvous… and Chris… at 7 !! ”

It’s been over a year since Matthews announced his exit and retirement from the network. He apologized after a woman Hardball Guest, Laura Bassett, had written an article in GQ saying he had “inappropriately flirted” with her prior to the show. Bassett later said that she appreciated his apologies.

Matthews wrote for the Washington Monthly. His memoirs chronicle his career in politics – notably as Tip O’Neill’s chief of staff – then in journalism, as well as his two decades as one of the main personalities of MSNBC.
