Seoul, August 1 (IANS): K-pop girl group BLACKPINK will officially release their highly anticipated second studio album in September and begin their world tour a month later in October.
It was announced earlier that the quartet will return to the music scene this month with the new album, Yonhap reports.
But YG Entertainment said in a video posted on its official blog to announce broad timelines for the group’s comeback that the group will pre-release some of the tracks for the upcoming album this month and officially release the album in September. .
In October, the group will embark on their biggest world tour to meet their international fans, the agency added without giving exact dates or times.
“The name of this comeback project is ‘Born Pink,’ which implies BLACKPINK’s identity, which is never ordinary and will exude a fatal aura,” the agency said in a press release.
The upcoming album will mark the band’s first project with all four members in a year and 10 months.
The last release from the whole band was in October 2020 with the band’s first full album ‘The Album’, featuring lead single ‘Lovesick Girls’ and a pre-released song ‘How You Like That’.
“The Album” became the first million-selling album by a K-pop girl group, selling over 1.4 million copies. It was a big hit in the global market, debuting at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and the British Official Chart for albums upon its release.
As of 2021, individual albums by members Rose and Lisa have been as successful as the band’s debut studio album. BLACKPINK recently extended their lead as the most followed musical act on YouTube after hitting 75 million subscribers.
