ALICE COOPER reflects on her appearance on the 1978 Muppet Show – “It was the funniest thing I ever did, it was so well written”

Guest on The Mistress Carrie Podcast, shock rock legend Alice Cooper talks with Mistress Carrie about her new album Detroit Stories, Rock Hall, offers tips on marriage, The Muppets, Keith Moon, Johnny Depp, The Roaring Nights of the Years 60’s and 70’s, radio and much more.

On his appearance on The Muppet Show in 1978:

“It was the funniest thing I ever did. What’s amazing is that when they gave it to me, it was the # 1 show in the world, and I just got off. imposing as the kind of character of America’s villainous-ghoul genre. And it was, ‘Oh, man, I want to do this show, but I don’t want to dilute Alice Cooper, the character … who was on the show recently ?’ They said: ‘Christopher Lee, Vincent Price …’ I said: ‘I’m in it!’ because if these two guys can be on this show, I can be on this show – I’m no match for them.

By doing the show after about three days of rehearsal, you talk to the Muppets like they’re people, and you don’t even realize it. You literally speak to them and they respond, and you join in. You totally embrace the world of the Muppets because when they do the rehearsals and stuff, they go on all the time. Honestly, I had the most fun during this show.

It was so well written. Very very funny. Kids could love it, but adults sure … I played the character of Faust, trying to convince Kermit to sell his soul, and it was hysterical. The writing was awesome on it, and we spent most of our time laughing, just trying to keep a straight face while we do it.

So yeah, I’m a huge Muppets fan. “
